READING TECHNIQUES


READING TECHNIQUES


-Skimming

Questions:
  •       What are the animals that appear in the text?
  •      Children should read the text and then, they should match the mouse name with the corresponding mouse picture (Although, this activity is connecting with intensive reading technique).


-Scanning

Questions:
  •          What different kind of mice appear in the text?
  •        Match these informations with the corresponding mouse:


                  Dormouse                    .                          . They can climb very well.

                  Harvest mouse            .                           . They are popular pets.

                  House mouse               .                          . They weigh six grams.

                  Jumping mouse           .                            . They live for about three years.

                  Pygmy mouse              .                           . They have long back feet.
  

-Intensive reading

Questions:
  •          What is the favourite food of mice?
  •          Where do the mice live?     
  •          First: Children read the text; Second: The teacher asks some questions about the text.
  •     Task:    Completing a table:


                        Mice                                  weight              features              food
      
                    Pygmy mouse
                    Jumping mouse
                    House mouse
                    Harvest mouse
                    Dormouse



-Predicting

Questions:
  •          Before reading, teacher asks some questions, like: What do you think that these mice eat or live  and so on.
