SONGS

We have chosen songs because we think that it is a good way to motivate children. They can learn and also enjoy with the activities.

We have ordered the song by colours according to the topic song.

1 1. HEAD, SHOULDERS, KNEES AND TOES.

AGE 3+

AIMS Language: parts of the body

Other: repetition

DESCRIPTION Children learn parts of the body.

IN CLASS

1 1- Sing the song together.

Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes.

And eyes and ears and mouth and nose.

Head, shoulders, knees and toes, knees and toes.

2 2- Ask different parts of the body and children must touch the corresponding body
parts.

3 3- After singing the song several times, so that children remember it, one child can
sing the song alone and the other children will follow him/her.

1 2. THE RAINBOW SONG

AGE 4+

AIMS Language: colors.

Other: order of the colors of the rainbow.

DESCRIPTION Children learn the different colors.

IN CLASS

1 1- Ask the class to put their colored crayons on the desk in front of them. Tell them to listen

and pick up each color as they hear it.

2 2- Sing the song together.

4 4- Listen the song and ask which the order of the rainbow colors is. And they can show the

corresponding colored crayons.

3. WHAT´S THE WEATHER LIKE TODAY?

AIMS Language: weather (sunny day, cloudy day,

windy day,…)

DESCRIPTION Children learn the weather.

IN CLASS

1- Ask the children `what´s the weather like today?´

2- Listen and sing the song together.

3- Every day at the beginning of the class, children can say what the weather is like and put different pictures in the corresponding day.

DESCRIPTION Children learn different vocabulary.

IN CLASS

1- Listen and sing the song together.

2- The teacher sings this song when children are going to sleep (nap). Children connects the nap time with this song.

3- Sing the song with flashcards. When we sing the song and say the word, we stand up/show the flashcard.

5. ARE YOU SLEEPING

AGE 3+

AIMS Language: Are you sleeping? (wake up)

Other: bell song

DESCRIPTION Children learn to ask `are you sleeping?´ and

they learn more vocabulary such as brother,

morning, ringing, ding-dang-dong, ….

IN CLASS

1- Ask the children what happens when they wake up (who wakes them up who helps them putting on the clothes and so on).

2- Listen and sing the song together.

3- We can move the body with the part "bells are ringing"

6. RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY.

AGE 5+

AIMS Language: Vocabulary about family (members).

Other: vocabulary: rain (weather) and play.

vocabulary such as rain, play, …

IN CLASS

1- Ask the children `what´s the weather like today?´. If it´s rainy they can say I like it or I
don´t like it. And also, If they do something when it´s rainy.

2- Listen and sing the song together.

7. INCY WINCY SPIDER

AIMS Language: Vocabulary about weather.

Other: Vocabulary (spider, climbed, spout,…)

DESCRIPTION Children learn vocabulary about weather (rain,

water, sunshine,…) And they can learn more

vocabulary such as rain, spider, climb, spout, ….

IN CLASS

1- Listen and sing the song together.

Incy Wimpy spider climbed up the water spout.

Down came the rain and washed poor Incy out.

Out came the sunshine and dried up all rain,

So Incy Wimpy spider climbed up the spout again.

2- When we sing the song we also make mime (climbed up, rain,…). Also, we can clap our hands when we say rain, and so on.

3- While we are singing the song with flashcards, we can show different pictures so that children can understand better the song.

8. ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE.

AGE 4+

AIMS Language: numbers

Other: repetition and vocabulary (fish, finger,…)

DESCRIPTION Children learn numbers (one, two, three, four,

five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten).

IN CLASS

1- Ask the children the numbers (one-ten) and they'll have to answer showing the corresponding number with flashcards.

2- Listen and sing the song together.

One, two, three, four, five.

Once I caught a fish alive.

Six, seven, eight, nine, ten.

Then I let it go again.

Why did you let it go?

Because it bit my finger so!

9. NUMBERS SONG

AGE 3+

AIMS Language: numbers

Other: repetition.

DESCRIPTION Children learn the numbers (one, two, three,

four, five, six)

IN CLASS

1- Listen and sing the number song together.

Do you know your numbers?

Can you count to six?

2- Do an activity with flashcards, when the song tells the numbers, the teacher shows the corresponding number.

3- Draw the numbers in balloons (from one to six) and children stand up when the song tells the corresponding numbers.

10- HELLO SONG AND BYE-BYE SONG.

AGE 2+

AIMS Language: hello and bye-bye.

Other: repetition.

DESCRIPTION Children learn to say hello and bye-bye.

IN CLASS

1- Every day when the class stars we say hello and when the class finishes we say bye-bye.

2- Listen and sing the song together.

face).

1- Ask children about the colours.

4- When we have listened the song, we ask the children what colours appear in the song and what parts of the face appear in the song.

12- HUMPTY DUMPTY.

AIMS Language: Different vocabulary (sit on, fall,

horse).

Know the animals.

DESCRIPTION Children can learn different actions and some

vocabulary.

IN CLASS

1- Ask children about Humpty Dumpty. (What do you think about Humpty Dumpty? Is he a boy? Is he an egg?)

2- Ask children about the actions: sit on and fall. Ask children about the animals.

3- Sing the song together

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.

Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.

All the king’s horses and all the king’s men

Couldn’t put Humpty together again.

4- Ask children what's happens in the song. Talk about the animals, what kind of animals appear in the song.

12- IF YOU ARE HAPPY
